Final Fantasy 1 is always FF1. 2, 3, and 5 weren't released on NES/SNES outside Japan so FF4 was 2, and FF6 was 3. That ONLY goes for Nintendo CONSOLES. It's correct on Gameboy and DS, and all later consoles including PS1, iOS, and PC.
After 7's release they ported the first 6 to PS1 in dual packs, except 3 was replaced with Chrono Trigger in North America. Origins: FF1+2, Chronicles: 4 and Chrono Trigger, and Anthology: 5+6. I believe Europe got FF3+4 in Chronicles. The real FF3 was not released in North America until the 3D remake for DS and PC, if I remember correctly.
And in Japanese Tidus is TEE-dah. I still say it's TIE-dus and the Japanese pronunciation shouldn't affect it, otherwise FF7 would be about Kuraudo Sutoraifu tracking down Sephiross. But Rinoa was supposed to be named Lenore but Rinoa sounds way more epic, so that argument is invalid. I've just settled for naming him Titus at the beginning of the game.
Thank you, the very first thing I did after the first three minutes of the podcast was pause it and go to comment explaining the FF numbering system. 1-6, are available as GBA ports, except 3, which was on the DS. Played all of them, loved most.
Ashley, Ryan, and Geoff for a Book-cast please and thank you..
Not a fan of the aesthetic of FF15, but everything I've heard about it makes me want to play. And I've actually pulled the eject on Wath_Dogs on 2 even though I liked 1. Because I hate everything about 2's story.
Ryan, if you make an RT Life video about you waiting for the Spectrum/TWC guy to show up, you're technically not missing work. Though, I wouldn't recommend recording the part where you kill and bury the guy...
open world and hack and slashey combat was the smartest mistake they ever made, it might be a good game its just not really a final fantasy game.
There's more to Final Fantasy than the combat. Each one is vastly different. You can't say the combat isn't like Final Fantasy because Final Fantasy has done just about every other sort of combat, even down to third-person shooters.
Boy, remember how we waited 2 months so there wasn't a huge day-1 patch?
Are we getting Game Club anymore or did they stop it for whatever reason? I hope it gets revived.
You know I really am liking Matt being on the podcast, mostly since he shares the same point of view on somethings since we're twenty something year olds. And don't worry Matt I watch the Vampire Diares too. Show got better when they left the twilighty first season and focused more on supernatural lore afterwards and the heart ripping helped too.
FF1 was still FF1 in america. 2 is jap 4 and 3 is jap 6
Its like this episode was made out of things that would frustrate a 15-year old me - people being so confused about the FF numbering system, Charter fucking up my Internet, and waiting for hours as UO would apply patch after patch on a fresh install.
I do hope that Ryan calls into Off Topic tomorrow while he is burying the tech in his backyard. I think it'd be worth a chuckle.
so I went and bought matts shirt about 10 minutes in. no regrets.
You don't need to
Brag about it
They spent so much time talking about FF XV and it's combat system I was really surprised that they didn't mention Xenoblade Chronicles. It had the real-time aspect as well as excellent control of your other team members. Not just that, but it's due for another entry and would be a great title for the Switch to flex some power for.
