I guess nobody on The Patch have played a grand strategy or PDX game. Stellaris is essentially just a Paradox grand strategy game like Hearts of Iron, Victoria or Europa Universalis....but in SPACE! It just kind of pissed me off when they scoffed at "Grand strategy". They literally play games for a living, come on guys.

Grand Strategy though is really just a Paradox game, so it's really easy for even major gamers to not know about it.

Stellaris is also definitely NOT EU4/Vic2 in space. It easily borrows just as much from Civilization as it does EU4, putting it in a middle ground. ( PDX are hoping for it to act as an introduction into their other games, which are pretty rough for new comers. Heck, at nearly 500 hours, I probably don't know half of EU4...but at 50 I know about 75% of Stellaris. )

I just hit 500 hours in EU4 as well and I feel like a noob still. I still don't get combat, a lot of trade and I suck at small nations, and I try to get my friends to play but they think it's too hard. I just hope Stellaris has the same depth. CIV V was done for me after 130 hours, whereas I feel like there's so much more to EU4, and I still haven't even gotten into CK2, not to mention HOI4 comes out in two weeks.

I had the same problem as Ashley with The Quantum Thief. I finished the book but man, the stuff the writer was trying to describe at the beginning of the book was so out there that it was kind of a pain to get through. I think it got better later on though. It's an OK book.

Overwatch on console really isn't "Old Man" mode. It's "I don't have the money right now to pour into a gaming PC that can handle a monster game like Overwatch so I have no other choice but to play and enjoy it on console" mode.

bullshit you need diverse team in over watch I had games with 5 genjis and 1 Lucio we kicked ass in no time at all

I also don't really form mental images (I kind of do, but its like the impression of a shadowy image more than an actual image, and is usually a sight I've seen rather than something original).

BTW, this doesn't stop me from writing fiction!

Edit: I still haven't given up on trying to picture what's happening in books, though.

The Mass Effect movie was put into production after the first game which was 9 years ago. Everyone keeps saying it's still in production but there haven't been any updates since 2013 I believe, and even then it sounded like it was still in early pre-production.
