Battlefront 2 Costs DICE Its Employees + DOTA 2 Lootbox Odds SUCK + Godzilla Gets A Constellation

Why would it cost DICE employees? It's not the devs fault >.< Ok, it seems like they're actually leaving rather than being fired, that makes more sense.

I'm a member of ResetERA, and it seems like the DICE story is a complete nothingburger. Basically, Epic and Ubisoft have both opened offices in Stockholm, and leaving one company to do the same thing at another can be a really good way to 1) open up a promotion pathway for you and 2) get a higher starting salary. 40 employees out of a studio of 400-700 is also a 5-10% churn rate, which is actually crazy low. People leave their companies to seek new opportunities all the time. That so few people are supposedly leaving DICE is actually speaks well for DICE as a workplace.

Initial thoughts on the loot box odds (might look into it more later since I don't know the intricacies of every loot box system), while it may be true that your odds for any particular rare item may end up as 1% or so, it doesn't stack that way when you do it for real. Your odds are individually calculated every single time you obtain one (which is impossible to prove with certainty because you would need a time machine and be able to compare results using 2 or more timelines, but I digress). It would be the same odds of opening them one at a time as it would be if you opened 50 of them. When figuring out those odds with a real world equivalent (trading/collectible cards), you would have a higher likelihood based on opening 50 in a row specifically because every card you get removes it from the pool of possible cards because there is a finite number of possible outcomes (for arguments sake, assume they stopped printing temporarily). Digital loot boxes don't follow the same rules so they should be treated differently. Not to mention that each person has the same odds every single time. Again, comparing them to TCG/CCG, your odds would go up or down based on what other people get out of their packs. It's not exactly accurate to say opening a certain number of them would increase your odds even though it's a common belief of how loot boxes work, but I can guarantee you that if you put that theory to the test then you wouldn't have a 100% chance of getting that super rare item you want if you buy 100 loot boxes (assuming a 1% chance of getting it as I mentioned at the beginning of this point). I'm not sure if your odds would go down or up based on how many you get (because again, timelines), however I can say that realistically your odds should be exactly the same every single time specifically because it keeps things fair and balanced for everyone instead of pure luck. To clarify the last point, I will say that it is luck to get the rare item (digital loot box), but it's a different kind of luck to get a super rare limited run card (TCG). You have to be lucky enough to choose the right place to go, when to buy it, and what other people have obtained from their packs when everything lines up for you to get the card you want, or relatively speaking any other rare card. Anyway, just thought I'd put that out there for people to discuss since it's a concept that people have in their head which (to me) seems like it's not accurate when you go beyond the first loot box.
