Next Season
The title on youtube caught my attention regarding the YouTube stream record and I came here for the linkdump, and to my surprise the record breaker was el rubius. After watching the video, I'm now compelled to leave a comment about bias.
I think I've seen you guys talk about bias once on the podcast (can't remember what's called now), but it seems you don't understand that bias is not just political bias, it's everything that makes your interpretation of facts subject to a narrow understanding of reality.
The commentary on this specific piece of news is not only biased, but offensively condescending. Mind you, I personally don't have any sympathy for el rubius and don't find his content entertaining, but I cannot but respect him, his work and the worldwide phenomenon he has become.
I'm guessing it must be really hard to understand from your point of view how this guy you never heard of (guessing again) has achieved this record, and what this means to your current understanding of the world you live in. It's natural to feel threatened by things you don't understand, and this might be what prompted you to downplay his achievement, and that's why you stressed the fact that this was a 100 youtubers stream when there's not actual correlation between this and the record obtained by el rubius. In fact, that he managed to pull this off, to get another 99 youtubers to agree on this, is a achievement on this own, it dwarfs all similar attempts tried by others in this medium, rooster teeth included.
On a different note, but regarding bias, I feel you used to report on news unrelated to gaming when it felt deserving, but of late you haven't. I'm guessing you don't want to be called on again at being politically biased, but... I kinda expected at least a mention from you about what happened recently to some of the kids that survived the Parkland shooting, where they were being attacked on social media by trolls using fake photos and videos that went viral. There's time to be politically correct, and there's also time to remember people to be nice to each other.
PS: Everywhere in this comment I used "you" as in "you, the know team", not anyone in particular.
