HTC Vive vs. Oculus Rift: Who WINS?

i feel like the oculus controllers will be around 200 bucks anyway so that puts them both at the same price. itll probably come down to which is more supported by the games that come out in the future. of course most of us interested in vr now will already have a headset by the time we learn which one will have a future

VR is still a novelty technology. It needs that one connection to make it into the real game market. Like they've said countless times before, you really don't understand its power or appeal until you try it, so thats a tough selling point

All of the comparisons were accurate, except for the idea of each device having separate games. Nearly all oculus games will be available on the Vive as well, as Oculus will be running a VR game store (think Ubisoft/steam, but VR games), and will allow people with any headset capable of running it, to run it. Their business model is going to be focused around selling the software, not the hardware (Which they are selling at cost), so it only makes sense to allow Vive users to purchase content from the store, and to make that content Vive compatible where they can.

Likewise, all Vive games (that don't require roomscale), will most likely be available on the Rift. It all comes down to the developer making sure it is compatible, which all devs will try to do, because why limit your profits to one device, when multiple devices are more profitable?

I think it's inaccurate to contain the value of the Vive within the hope of future development or availability of games. Unity recently announced that it will offer full Vive support, which will result a plethora of games.

In my experience, indie and free games have been much better than triple A over the past few years.
