Love see Adam and Joel doing news stories.
Ghosts in the machines.
Oh my god! Suddenly it all makes sense...
The obsession with a super conductive metal like gold.
The twitter post about adopting this poor robot.
The fact he hasn't aged in 14 years.
The in joke contained right in this news story about robots reading off teleprompters.
JOEL IS REALLY A ROBOT!
Reading this I thought you were gonna make a joke about HUMANITY being that way
All of human history, gold is our crack (makes sense since it's a rare medal in the UNIVERSE let alone our tiny planet
Everyone ever wants a robot pet
Lot's of people don't age, plus he just looks good in this, he's aged, just well.
Joel is funny, you got me.
the word heavenly came to mind cherry
I love how Joel just doesn't care about age, now he looks so young.
#SaveRLJ-5
But seriously on robotic rights, at the moment it should only be about equal to that of animals at most. Aside from the one in the story, that probably got hit by lightning or something, most are nothing more than programmable machines.
I think the debate had some discussion about when they did reach heights comparable or equal to human intelligence. if that ever happens then what should we do. They're saying that it is because it's way easier to have it in place well ahead of time and we are making great leaps in that feild all the time.
"This is starting to sound like the most boring apocalyptic sci-fi movie of all time"
Yes, that's exactly how real life sounds. It's all going to shit, but in the most boring way. Welcome to the future!
The link about electronic persons says UK... but it's an EU proposal ... was that intentional?
Adam and Joel! horray! i was just waiting for the iRobot footage lol. 3 laws of robotics!
So this is a bad idea. When AI/Skynet comes online and does a quick search about what people have thought/said about it in the past. AI will no from the get go we are enemies..... Just saying, going to have some terminators in the future.
They may also see the people supporting them as well, right?
I mean, this thing made viral news, so we have that!
I, for one, welcome our robot overlords.
Isn't Joel's last name Hyman? Geoff was pretty insistent about it on Off Topic.
now now don't go starting a 1 year rift again
Joel being in this makes it an win by default.
Now, this story kept me going.
AI that are capable of being considered equal to a human in intelligence and awareness. But...we shouldn't even be trying to make them that advanced. Nothing about that is a good idea and it doesn't really give any practical benefit.
Well, the practical benefit is that they'd be cheaper and easier to replace than human workers if they were to get "sick" or "injured", while also possessing the mental capabilities to do jobs that require human levels of intelligence, such as those that require doing a large variety of tasks in a single day, or having interaction with customers where each instance can be different. Then there's the fact that it would be a lot cheaper in the long run to make and program a robot worker, than to hire and train a human worker who could simply decide not to show up one day. Robots also wouldn't need a pay raise, or be forced to take time off due to family emergencies. And that's just the beginning of the benefits. Don't get me wrong, I err on the side of caution when it comes to advancing AI technology too quickly, but there are certainly far more benefits to robots than humans, if the technology reaches the point that both are of equal intelligence.....
Those are short term benefits. There's also the fact that human works loss their jobs. So unless there's room in the job market, there's no practical benefit.
