Wow, Gus is angry.
He seemed more uncomfortable than angry.
I mean, I still have cable, but it's part of a FiOS bundle, and my parents are old and have trouble understanding how to watch things on the internet. But I also realize that I'm outside the norm with how good I have it. It's going to be fun watching these companies go the way of the dinosaurs because they refuse to change.
Also...Gus...ew...
my parents still subscribe to cable tv, but that's only so my mum can watch her real housewives every day (also, well you know how great australian downloading is)
My new High speed internet is up on Monday (Finally Australia) and with it I bid farewell to cable TV and say hello to Netflix. Even got my parents onboard, taking the aged market (sorry mum and dad, you're old) from cable too.
If they pulled content and charged for cable, they will just see a rise in illegal downloads and then wonder why people aren't paying for cable and complain about people illegally downloading their content. Seriously, companies need to grow up and see that the world is changing and if they don't change with it, goodnight Irene

There's a lot wrong with this story. Time Warner and Time Warner Cable are two different companies. Mentioning the potential TWC merger with Charter has nothing to do with TW, which is the company looking to buy into Hulu.
if you're trying to differentiate the two companies, it's "Time Warner Inc" (sometimes stylized as TimeWarner Inc)
The mistake made no impact on the story, but thanks for the heads up! They were the same company until twenty naughty nine.
Living In Canada it isn't much better. Where I am we don't even get the option of cable. It is either satellite or analog; forget about broad band. As for ISP two maybe three options depending if you have a population in your city of over 10,000
I enjoy that they think 25 Mbps is slow, when thats the average speed here in Canada (at least where i am)
The average internet speed in Canada is 11.9, here in the US it's 12.6. neither of those are particularly great with multiple people using it.

I live in a fairly rural area and my only option for "high" speed Internet is to use Comcast. I called to complain about a connection issue and while I was on the phone they offered a deal to lower my bill. I repeatedly stated I did not want TV service just my Internet service. They changed my plan (mysteriously my connection issue vanished) but part of the plan added basic TV service which I did not find out about until I looked at my first bill. I was going to call and cancel but it dropped my bill $20 from what I had been paying for just Internet. It's these shady kind of deals that allow them to inflate their subscriber numbers. Also, the fact that they charge more for just Internet service is ridiculous.
Oh yea, the set top box they sent is still in the box in the corner. I refuse to hook it up.
Supervillains steal cookie jars. Glad I'm in The Know on that one.
It was cheaper for me to add cable TV to my services than it was to just have internet. Of course, once the initial deal is up...
