@UberVilla Not only that, but it's set after the book series. Geralt talks about the end of the last book during 3.

@UberVilla Having played through Witcher 3 without having played the other games, I feel like there’s so much to the characters and world that I just didn’t get. Throughout the game, Geralt and friends constantly reminisce about past events and mention people that I assume happened and were in the previous games with little to no explanation as to who/what they are. Which makes sense, this being the third installment and all, but it’s still pretty damn jarring just jumping into the third game.
