I think if you look at Sea of Thieves gear, it really hits home onto the lack of content of the game.
The developers themselves have talked about how cosmetics are the big thing to work on in the game. So, how much do we have?
A whole 11 sets of gear....in total.
If you think that's bad, just wait.
1 set is your starting rags. ( Sailor )
1 set is preorder exclusive. ( Black Dog )
1 set is exclusive for those that bought the controller. ( Ferryman )
4 sets are just recolors of another set. ( Ceremonial Admiral / Admiral, Scurvy Bilge Rat / Bilge Rat, Rogue Sea Dog / Sea Dog, Royal Sovereign / Sovereign. )
Yea..that's right. There are really just 4 sets of gear to earn, and 1 single color swap of those sets.
Like seriously. HOW? This isn't an indie game that was being made by 3 people over just 1 year. This was a major game studio working for about 5 years. They should have launched with AT LEAST 20 unique sets, and 5 variants of each of those.
Needless to say, I'm glad I played the betas, I enjoyed my time...and I'm extra glad I did not buy the game. Massive disappointment.
can i please! just have 1 Question Answered by Adam on the show Please? my Question for Adam is has he played the western Gun game, Cold Steel yet?
Outposts need to be safe zones: no PvP and people cant steal you loot, other wise the whole game is just a shityer version of the darkzone from the division or every thing wrong with GTA online. We ran into people that will camp outposts and scandal there ship when they see you just to ruin your day. They didn't even steal anything just sunk 4 hours worth of our loot: 3 whits skulls, 2 silver skulls, 4 bronze skull, 1 gold skull, 6 chests and 8 kegs of gunpowder (witch they used to sink our ship )
I think a One Piece style bounty where the higher that you get in PvP increases a bounty on your head but also makes your reputation rise would be cool. It would increase the risk as it would make you an ever increasing target for others but reward the crews that do well in the system with greater and greater perks to reward them with.
Of course you still need better things to spend said gold on for it to matter.
Edit: On finishing the show, I will say that Sea of Thieves reminds me a lot of No Man's Sky without the overhype. There is a great core engine there but the world is so empty that the well runs dry fast. Just like NMS, maybe in a year or two I'll pick this up and hope there is a game actually worth playing.
Problem with the bounty thing is that there are only 5 other ships in your world. You've probably gained said bounty from sinking those ships already...so, who's going to claim it? ( Also, once you have engaged a ship...the 2 of you will remain in the same instance so that you can fight more, possibly get revenge, etc. preventing you from being moved to a different instance where someone can actually sink you. )
Oh Chad, if I couldn't love you any more and you go and bring up one of my absolute favorite RPG "Legend of Legaia".
There are so many hard parts in the game! From having turn limits because of a bomb and there is a part where each one of your party members split up and ends with a one on one boss fight with each character. That was a rough dungeon! But man the game is so worth it. It has everything! Unique combat system, Fishing, and a arcade tower where you can play a rhythm game, battle arena, and a Rock Paper Scissor game!
I'm enjoying Sea of Thieves. I sail solo and have learned to sail without my lights on, avoid other ships if I have a lot of loot, and going back to outposts after a voyage to turn in loot. I like playing solo because I can drop in and out if I only have a few minutes to play and not screw over other people.
Not sure if you guys have looked into it, but KB/M vs controller in Halo does technically exist. They released the forge mode for H5 on PC where you can build and play custom maps and modes on PC as well as Xbone. I've played it a bit but I haven't done a real custom game in it so I don't know how different it is, but you can get an idea of what it would be like to mix the two styles of play. I'd be curious to see what it's like to have a full on match where one team is all PC and the other is all Xbox. Maybe also mix it so it's half and half on both sides so it could be an accurate comparison
Yay Chad! Please bring him back, he's always awesome to have on anything.
And to what he was saying about Legend of Legaia, I had a similar thing happen to me in Final Fantasy 8. My only save was during a disc change (remember those?) and right after there was a boss I couldn't beat. And there was no way to go back, just the boss right in front of me. Still never went back and played through that game.
The console developers have never made all that much money on console sales, it's the software that makes them money. Microsoft doesn't need to sell Xbones to people if those people are buying their games and those people who where never going to buy an Xbone anyway may get the exclusives now thus making them more money. Also as far as Scale bound is concerned, remember how good no mans sky looked, I hate to see a game canceled but I think Ashley is right about it.
