I often wonder if I'm alone in my feelings towards Andromeda. After playing through ME1+2, and currently through 3, for the fourth or fifth time... I dare say Andromeda, gameplay wise, is my favorite. Combat feels more fluid. Story, after playing through twice, while not great is solid. My main problem with the story is there wasn't any urgency at the start. The Kett weren't that great. But, towards the end, I started to really enjoy the story. And, I'm fascinated by The Remnant and who they are.
Was it flawed? Yes. There were a lot of bugs, most of which were fixed or I personally never experienced (I got it at launch), and the story didn't feel as epic. The game mechanics, however, were far better than the original trilogy (in my opinion, of course). Now, if we break down characters and all that, the trilogy trumps it in those aspects. There are few great characters in Andromeda, but far more memorable ones in the original trilogy.
To each their own though. I enjoyed the game out of the gate, but I didn't have any experiences that would prevent me from enjoying it. Needless to say, the argument it failed because of its launch window and other games came out at the time is rather funny. Odd place to put the blame.
