This whole "Music Industry (i.e. RIAA) shoots itself in the foot with a mini-gun" thing is so stupid as to be ridiculous; they destroyed their primary revenue stream when they did this in the 90s/00s when little old ladies got hauled to court for ripping music CDs even when they had no computer of internet connection and did so much damage to the industry that it was probably one of the big reasons for the trend of ripping CDs to Youtube (or any of a dozen other changing platforms over the years), they managed to get a control of some of that via VIVO but clearly lost the war with CD sales hitting terminal decline and their control over musicians hugely waning and essentially lost control of their (near) monopoly over commercial music in the USA (an many places abroad). That they are trying it again now shows that these rich, white men have not learned (what a surprise) and that Twitch already has a library of music twitch streamers can use is only the start of this wholesale sweep that will be made of the rest of the (American) "Music Industry" (i.e. the fat cats) as Game makers will not want their games sniped out of the air by the RIAA and the like on twitch since they will lose a potential hit with streamers if streamers think for even a second they might have their channel and livelyhood destroyed in one feel swoop because a a game uses music that they don't have a license to stream. Expect the lawyers to get involved and make sure that games have a "streamer mode" which removes music from games (or at least music that they haven't a license for streaming for), the removal or lack of use of mainstream music in games and the changing of EULAs (not that THOSE are legal in most of the rest of the world anyway) to allow or disallow streaming of the game (expect AAAs and indies to allow streaming and the middle ground and Nintendo to be a mess).
In the middle of this the musicians still with recording labels can expect to loose everything (especially if they are under long term contract) as the (American) "Music Industry" (i.e. the fat cats) destroy one of the biggest markets and potential places for exposure that musicians have... well done _anti-_Music Industry; but then it clearly was suicidal decades ago and the fat cats have been in control so long they are completely out of touch with anything happening anywhere in the world apart from their own wallets.
Wish people wouldn't run with he was a stadia dev. He works for a company that was bought out by stadia so he makes stadia games yes but he in no way has a say in what stadia does.
The dude is an idiot
