every time someone predicts that the next "big inovation" in gaming will be some all-consuming feature that will get rid of the currently used system, it never pans out. "Disks will replace catridges/chips", "3D will replace 2D", "Digital will replace physical", "VR/AR will replace screens", "phones will replace consoles", and now "streaming will replace local". Nothing ever gets replaced entirely, because each method has its own merits. That's why we still have physical media for both music and video despite the widespread adoption of streaming them primarily. Different people want different things, and it's stupid to lump all the consumers together and assume they will all want it one way in the future.
