A new challenger appears! Microsoft is jumping in to aid Epic in its legal fight against Apple’s chokehold over half the mobile market. What started off as a strategic poking of the bear has become an all out battle royale for the involved multi billion dollar companies. Epic is claiming their fight is based on the letter and spirit of antitrust laws and ultimately the goal is to break up Apple’s growing monopoly of the mobile market. Apple’s response was to remove Epic’s access to iOS dev tools which is a major blow that affects all mobile games that use the Unreal Engine. Microsoft's support comes at a time in which Epic is against the ropes - though this might take months of litigation, it appears Epic is in this for the long haul. Rest assured we’ll be keeping a close eye on the back and forth right here Inside Gaming.
