There are few video game executives as debonair as Phil Spencer, and even when he’s taking potshots at the competition, he does it with a little bit of class. Spencer appeared at a recent conference called Gamelab Live. When asked about his thoughts on the competition and the PS5, his response was resoundingly confident. But is it true that the Xbox Series X has a significant hardware advantage over the PS5 or is it all just a bunch of marketing and hot air? Hang with us as we mull it over on today’s episode of Inside Gaming Daily!

Why do people still think that console players pick a console based on the hardware? Literally no console player cares about hardware, they only care about the available software. Wanna play Halo? XBox. Wanna play Spider-Man? PS5. That's it, that's the only way people pick consoles at this point.
@Thorne17 While I'm sure that's how the majority go there's still a fair amount who will jump on the one that gives them the most power. Also it's not just 1 console owners. If people buy both sytems they may be more inclined to get a 3rd party on their more powerful system.
@Arizona_Joe the amount of people that buy the console based on power is so trivial. Also, most people only ever get 1 console. you might know alot of people that have more than 1 but that's because they might be more into gaming but the casual players can only afford 1 or not care enough to buy both
@Thorne17 I mean of course exclusives are the #1 priority for consumers. Microsoft knows that, Sony knows that, IG knows that, and no one is disputing that. But #2 behind that is Hardware Power (which can in turn also influence Devs if the difference is significant: See how little 3rd party AAA games were on the last few Nintendo consoles. That's majorly on the weaker hardware compared to the PlayStation/Xbox of each generation). If the next Xbox generation really is more powerful, and continues to be in later iterations of this gen, it could sway a (smaller) part of consumers
the PS2 was the weakest console of it's generation and it is the most sold console in history. the 360 was much weaker than ps3 and won by a landslide. the xbox one had a three year headstart and still the switch beat the shit out of it. Hardware means absolutely nothing and any ceo claiming it does needs to be mocked to hell and back.
