@Bigsushidude I've heard of a lot of Americans from the South being thaught very little or flat out wrong things when it comes to the American Civil War (especially in regards to the role slavery played in it)

@Hammlet yes definitely experienced some watering down of history before in the south.

@NickelDime weirdly, even though the US fought Japan too, a lot of their history classes just simply don't talk about the atrocities commited by the Japanese while talking about the Pacific War theatre. But I must say, I was kinda weirded out with the almost passing mention of the millions of women forced into sexual slavery

@Hammlet ya, maybe it is because the US directly controlled japan for a while and so they decided not to fully share everything japan had done besides the one thing they did to end up in a war with the US. or perhaps they just simply do not care about what happens in Asia, which would not be all to surprising, history about Asia and Africa in general tends to be covered far less often and in far less detail. even most of South America is not covered nearly as much as Europe and North America. And ya the worst act that they mentioned (even though there were a lot more they didn't mention at all), was felt almost like an after thought. I know their whole thing is more so to do with comedy, but some stuff you really do have to give the weight and attention that it deserves. it almost felt like they made a bigger deal out of pearl harbour, which while a terrible thing, it honestly is a fair number down on the list of worst things that they did at that time, which I guess just goes to show how bad things were. the US will spend days talking about pearl harbour and their grand war against japan, but then treat all that time before they were involved almost as though it didn't happen. it's almost a decade of atrocities that many history books just skip over.
