Fans and critics have spoken and Genshin Impact is a hit! But… it’s recently been revealed that the game has a series of keywords and phrases banned from chat due to China’s regulations around media censorship. Of course this may not come as a surprise to those who already know that the game is made by a Chinese company - but since players in the west are restricted from those words as well it’s hard for many to ignore. China has obviously had a tight grip on anything made within the country that might threaten the notion of perfect national unity but this is another story in a long list about how China’s politics and its stance against free speech affects games that we play. Rest assured we won’t be censoring anything on today's edition of Inside Gaming Daily!... well unless someone says !@#$... or like they [REDACTED] you know? Anyways, enjoy the show.

AT&T - available everywhere... except anywhere else in the World than the USA... glad your advertisers are still so aware of your international reach.... *sigh*
@RiverRunning "Available Nationwide!"
also, they are an American company, of course their sponsors will be mostly American. and EVEN then, they also have sponsors that have international offers
@Vinpap It's possible to write advertising such that you don't sound like a douche to the part of the audience whom it doesn't apply to but the advertiser script writers can't be bothered... lack of respect for their own art, never mind their shills ;)
@RiverRunning they literally say that it's available nationwide BEFORE saying it's available everywhere... because it is available everywhere in the nation they are in.
As for the PRC and censorship... watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHcTKWiZ8sI
And then know that it is already in full use and has been for years in some places... 2020 was apparently the latest possible date. Censorship of games is nothing in comparison... this is straight gamification of obedience to the state with real life rewards and punishments...
she covers video game news and called genshin impact a "breath of the wild" clone....I guess the new doom is just a call of duty clone... I mean they both have guns right? nothing else in common but yes
@ManlyTorchic that is the point. calling it a clone for one element being the same... combat is different, story pace way different, equiment, character, ect.... all wildly different... 'but the game lets you climb boulders so BOTW clone'
@FuryFirebrand once you take the enemies and look at the ones in BOTW they are similar but adding a use for elemental effects but playing both it’s eerie how similar. no weapons breaking but that's cause they are a gacha game so weapons are upgrade or use to upgrade others the use of the stamina bar... is that needed? No but it's still there the cooking in game isn't as big as BOTW just add stuff and see what works but it's still got a cooking section based on ingredients you find in the wild and pick up. Trust me I like Genshin Impact as much as the next mobile gacha gamer looking for their next pull hoping for a 5* Klee or to pull a Diluc but the comparison is there for a reason to interest people into playing it
