Xbox Series S has one very annoying limitation

I don't see this being a deal breaker for most people who were considering the Series S, myself included. I primarily play Nintendo/Playstation and have scoffed at the idea at buying an Xbox in the past, but between an easily affordable next-gen console with backwards compatibility and everything that is Gamepass, I might finally get an Xbox.

makes sense I feel like. it's labeled a "budget console" I believe. cut corners where you can without removing any major performance. sounds better for general consumer base, and if I remember correctly the Series X is $500, compared to $300.

So what they are actually saying (when you are not listening to the marketing bullshit) is that the Series S(hitty) is not next gen whereas the Series X(treme) is. I don't know why they can't admit this though... Nintendo doesn't two hoots what generation you call their stuff, mostly because it is innovative and different and has a much broader market appeal... which the Series Shitty does not outside of Game Pass (which is only innovative compared to Nintendo offerings in this field since it already existed for XBox One S(lim) and X(treme), PS4 and PC (which frankly has too many of this type of offering - I avoid installing them and still have three *ugh*)). TLDR; XBox Series S is a good demonstration of getting what you pay for; buy a Switch if want cheap innovation, an XBox Series X(treme) for power, a PS5 for exclusives or a console with lots of games and a PC for the best of all worlds seeing as you can get near anything the consoles can provide on PC - just don't expect games to be very optimised since devs are mostly too busy selling stuff to consumers willing to pay too much for "convenience" and a worse product instead of quality... TLDRTL; Consoles make everything worse for everyone by letting idiots join in multiplayer games and increasing complexity in return for a worse product on PC.

wait I'm confused why are they angry about it not having the enhanced version of backwards compatible games? it was my belief that the enhanced aspect is the improvement of graphics, resolution and textures so the games look better in 4k. So if the Xbox series S is only going to play games in 1440p having it run the enhanced version is pointless because the game will look the same as the un-enhanced version because it can't play games at 4k resolution.

From all I've seen, it would seem that the Series S is perfectly fine if you don't have a 4K tv. If you DO have a 4K tv then you need the One X or Series X.
