Alright, this really isn't any surprise. Flash memory gets devoured by phone makers. We do not have enough manufacturers to make the materials needed or produce the actual memory. They are essentially building a powerful enough PC to compete even sorta as moderate quality PCs. Though it won't mean the games will be all that much better. The price is going to be high. People will just have to accept that. Also, developers, for the love of all that is good, please spend time optimizing your games so we don't get games that play like total garbage like they have been.

I suspect that Sony will probably sell it at a loss to try and push the console out to consumers and eventually turn a profit with the amount of sales in the subsequent years, the reason I find this more likely is the fact the PS3 had that rocky start due to price but PS4 has been one of the best selling platforms for them because they initially sold it at a loss. With the current state of the world this maybe the best strategy given the lack of disposable income that many people are currently facing it would be a better idea to take the hit now and recover later than have it flop on release due to price.

“People might hold off on a big purchase like a big console”. Allow me to inform you that this sentence is false. The amount of stupid shit people purchase during times of crisis is astounding. So an obnoxiously large tag on a shiny new system for the holidays? Absolutely people who can, or can’t, afford it will still be in line launch day.
