One of my favorite things about Inside Gaming is that y’all always bring a tone of realism and skepticism to every video you publish. This one is a very fine example of that work. I really liked Kdin’s honesty about how many companies profit from data farming as well. Great job guys!
As a BIPOC I will say that although I completely agree that this is a slippery slope, and it has been a big issues with companies selling off our data, (especially here in the states as we have very few consumer data protections laws, thankfully I'm in CA where we have one of the few US protections.) I could not count the amount of times I have been called the "N" word in chat. Like it happens at such regularity because people online feel that they are immune to consequence, since often there is no way to verify their behavior. So its kind of nice that this is at least something Sony is trying to address. I just hope we don't here reports later on down the line that they were listening in on conversations in our homes.
Ok but like, how is this potentially different then the share button on the Switch (I dont know if the PS4 works the same way). It keeps like a buffer of the last ?? minutes and then saves it when you ask for it. Sounds like that buffer is stored on the device (unless the cloud is that good?)
Like how else would they actually combat online harassment in voice chat?
