Ignorant Politicians Blame Gaming for Shootings AGAIN

Though I know it wasn't a fun topic to discuss, it is a necessary one. Thanks for taking the time to put this out.

Sad to say, but journalists nowadays either have no backup from their employers, or are cowards who refuse to question outright lies. Either way I can't watch news anymore it just raises my blood pressure as I see lie after lie repeated without any push back.

Guns are for pussies. plain and simple

Terrible parents that either didn't teach them right or didn't get them the mental health treatment needed. Mystery solved. (this opinion comes from a guy that had access to dozens of guns, was bullied for 11 years in the public school system, and had parents that did teach him right from wrong so no shooting spree)

The blaming on video games is like what is happening right now with the festival and entertainment industry in New South Wales. Stupid politicians trying to kill our industries and fun!!

Evil is Evil and banning guns or video games will not stop psychopaths. I'm a gun owner and supporter but I also play video games normally. Mental health is a big deal not a object like a gun or video game.

I've been playing video games AND listening to heavy metal for more than 30 years and I have yet to shoot a single person.

The shitstain in El Paso referenced Trump in his manifesto. Newsflash: Sometimes they’re just fucked up and/or racist/homophobic. It has nothing to do with the music they listen to or the games they play or whatever else.

Remember the part were you said politicians talk about games causing violence, but have no idea what they are talking about. We are alone in the developed world on this problem, people. Every country has its crazies and extremists, every country could be doing more for mental health. But only we let them arm themselves to the teeth. Mitch McConnell has been sitting on background check bills (not even gun control!) for months. Is he doing it to defend your freedoms at great personal cost? No, it's so the NRA millions will keep flowing to him. How I wish these terrorists had to settle for staying home and playing Halo...

There is no ban or blocks to researching gun violence, in fact there is a lot of research out there, the Dicky amendment stops the CDC from advocating for gun control, they can still do and publish the research all they want, but refuse to do so because they can't suggest taking away guns. Guns are used in about 350,000 crimes a year, that results in about 50,000 people being shot and 15,000 people dying. There are also about 25,000 suicides by guns, about 51% of total suicides. Guns are used defensibly an estimated 2.1 million times a year and if just 2% of those DGUs saved someone from being murdered the guns actually save more lives than they take. It was similar in the 90s even though then there was a lot more gun violence, and the CDC ignored that in an editorialized report that suggested that taking guns would stop the violence. It won't stop anything based on research done about gun control and the NRA, which wasn't quite the giant pile of shit it is today, took steps to defend gun rights.
