Hopefully this means every open world ubi game isn't another looter type game (with some variation) seriously who over there thought making every game like that was a good thing?
I mean really there are 2 very simple reasons that game was rejected by the community at large.
1. Massive monetization.
2. Divisionfying what was and had always been a tactical shooter franchise.
Being a huge GR fan myself and been playing the games since the inception of the franchise I was devastated to see what they did with it, to their credit they did add a few elements that the community wanted from Wildlands but the 2 points I mentioned above killed any goodwill Ubi would have gotten from the community despite adding those elements we wanted.
@HypnoticChronic1 people complain about the micro-transactions because they're micro-transactions, personally I've not seen much of an issue with them, my biggest peeve is some clothing being locked behind it, the gear score doesn't really mean anything if you just headshot, which should usually be the aim, as well as some areas are meant to be more difficult regardless, but I think they wanted to make the game more long term by giving it the raids and gear score. Though personally the weapons at least having gear score I kind of enjoy because it doesn't mean I'm just using the same guns the whole game, armour also honestly doesn't seem awful because of the buffs they give, but the armour part seems the least polished since you can scrap them for a crafting item that isn't actually used in the game lmao
@JuggerP Sure people in general don't like micro transactions as a whole but Breakpoint went over the top with them and that is the issue many of us have with it. As for the gear maybe their intent was to give the game more life for the long term or maybe they figured they could push more micro transactions that way who's to say, but I personally think the latter is far more indicative of Ubi's recent practices in other titles so I will continue to assume it is the case until proven otherwise. And honestly had the gear aspect shown up in another franchise it more than likely would not have caused such a uproar, the main issue from what I understand most of us have with it is that it seems that they are gutting the tac shooter aspect the main thing the franchise had been centered around and replacing it with a division model due to the sheer fact that they see it as more profitable, which is in direct opposition to what the fans at large wanted or asked for I pointed out those 2 aspects specifically due to them being the most common I have seen on forums, videos and streams both of which I also happen to take issue with. Now don't take what I have said thus far the wrong way it is not coming from a place of malice but from a place of wanting the game to be better than it is, I love the GR franchise I have played every one since its inception (minus this one of course tho I did play the beta both closed and open) and to see what Ubi has done to it... its kinda a kick in balls if you know what I mean but if you like it man by all means have at it and I respect your opinion on the matter this is merely the way I and many others see it.
I'm not even going to pretend to do the math, but if they expected profits to be 90% higher we all know that doesn't mean 90% more sales of the base game, right? There's a place in this world for micro transactions but it just feels like they dream up grinds and obstacles so you can pay to skip them. Also as someone who played Division 2 and got frustrated by all the interesting factions being shoved out of the way for the Black Tusk and their annoying drones it was incredibly unappealing for drones to be so heavily featured in Ghost Recon. I don't play Manshooter 4: The Manshootening to shoot drones.
It's refreshing to see them delaying games to make them better, I hate when games get delayed but it's the right thing to do, I hope it works out and we get some good games out of it.
