Personally, I'm not entirely against censorship. It depends on what is being censored. Anime boobie games? No point in censoring when you can just slap a rating and call it a day. Heavy swearing and general violence, again, an accurate and appropriate rating will suffice. Especially since good ol' Nintendo has Parental Controls available on all of their more recent systems. But if, say, Neo-Nazis try to get some sort of horrific propaganda game onto a home console, I don't exactly see any reason to NOT block that.
This situation in particular stems from Sony's decision to heavily censor/refuse to license any games with "sexual content", specifically(and some swear words bleeped out in promotional material--not exactly a big deal). It doesn't make any sense. After all, who is going to buy an obvious hentai game for their 12 year old? Gears of Battlefield Modern Warfare 26 is more likely to get into their hands anyway. Instead of making sure only those of appropriate age have access to rated M games, Sony is just blocking "sexy" stuff, as if that is the problem at hand(it clearly isn't). There's a double standard present here(sex is bad but violence is fine!), as well as the general puritanical fear of "sexual content", more notably in places like North America, Australia, and parts of Europe. In summation, it is bullshit, and this has been a subject of debate for decades now.
Of course, Sony has every right to censor/restrict whatever they damn well please, and any How Dare You's sent their way won't change anything. Sony isn't a nation that prides itself on Free Speech; it is a corporation that can decide what is and isn't acceptable within their own environment. If they say "No Sexy Games", tough shit, go somewhere else. They can ban you for swearing if they want, and you would have no legal ground to stand on if you had the itch to sue them for it. The only way to make them change their tune, is by protesting with your wallet. Don't like their policy changes? Immediately stop giving them any money, and tell them why. If enough people do that, they might allow anime boobie games once again.
