Ooblets Devs Threatened after Epic Games Store Deal

Am I the only one who doesn't get why there is so much hate on Epic? They are trying to make good competition in an otherwise monopoly and being fair to Devs along the way. It's just another program to get games, not like you have to buy a whole new system. I used to be all Steam, then I took the 5 minutes it takes to get Epic and have both.

while i have no real interest in this game this saga over ooblets is something else. if an indie devs takes the epic deal they have every right too since they need the money. that being said the statement they put out about going epic exclusive was probably one of the worst pr moves they could have made. while criticism could be made about the wording/tone in the epic exclusive announcement, they defiantly dont deserve whats coming at them now. it also didnt help when tim said what he said about the announcement . knowing that his platform has an image issue with consumers tim basically poured gasoline over the ooblets devs while they were already on fire.

Man, it's hard to take the side against the developers because of the extremists who say those horrible things. I don't want to be associated with them. I've followed this game nearly from the start. I love Stardew Valley, and I have been looking for something like that after giving My Time at Portia a shot, and other games. The blogpoint is just a difficult topic, because the tone is so cheery because obviously they are very very happy, as I would be too. Unfortunately, there aren't many Epic supporters, but I still hope most people realize that them giving these people the money to make their dream come true, with the peace of mind of not becoming homeless if it fails is an amazing thing. But them generalizing everyone that doesn't like the EGS as part of a toxic group that doesn't belong in their community was unfair. Generalizations of a group never turn out well, and I didn't like how they made it very "You're either with us, or against us". Unfortunately, as a consumer, the only voting I can do is with my wallet. I don't like the EGS, there's a myraid of reasons why, but I won't be buying Borderlands 3, and now I'm going to avoid Ooblets as well. Maybe once Epic ends their exclusivity deals, I'll come back around, but in the end, they never deserved the backlash they got.

Saying the developers made a bad PR move because of their tone is insane because the Epic store backlash is childish bullshit to begin with.

I have both and use both. Doesn't change the fact the epic games store website is trash. If it was more user friendly and the store had actual categories to search and other options it would at least be usable instead of a waste of time unless you know EXACTLY what game you want. Even with a crap website it doesn't give anyone the right to give death threats to them or someone who signs an exclusive deal with them.

Sometimes I just feel disgusted with humanity. I'm gonna buy Ooblets to give some support to the dev team that has most likely worked their arses off to bring a product that they love to their fans, I'm all for Epic if this is how people act.

As a console gamer from a young age, the rage over the Epic Games Store and exclusives is insane to me.

Ah F you Lawrence...JKJKJK. Love you guys. Honestly I am with everyone when they get angry about a game going from steam but suddenly becoming epic exclusive. I am with everyone 100% there. I am also with the devs for why they are shifting towards the Epic game store. Both understandable sides of the same story. I will admit I do tend to mostly side with the devs tbh. When people start threatening people over nothing then I will 100% side with a dev. I hope the ooblet devs can just move on and get a chance to actually enjoy the fact they created a product that people will legitimately enjoy. Bringing joy to others is a feeling that should be cherished.

And we wonder why people think games cause violence. People who send death and rape threats over having to download a free launcher to play a game are the one of the reasons why gamers get such negative representation. It's appalling. Just because you plan on buying a game doesn't give you the right to threaten and abuse the people who have worked very hard to make this game for you, and frankly, any form of outrage over simply having to download a different launcher from the one you normally use is unwarranted and childish. These people need to grow up.
