It's been 13 years, huh? When I was changing my online ID it said I've been using it since January 2007. And that wasn't even my first one! Or my first PlayStation Online service... This ID change works in a weird way. Like it seems to me like you're choosing an alias for your ID, so your original ID is still used for legacy reasons and everywhere else - where the codebase has been updated - your latest alias is being used instead. Because of that, it makes sense how Sony keeps your original PSN ID and doesn't ever release it to the wild. But it's so weird how you can change your PSN ID multiple times and you will OWN all of those names, meaning you can revert to any of them at any time for free. I haven't encountered that implementation of the system before and of course with so many millions of PSN accounts and so many people changing IDs and them never being released, it will be quite difficult to change your PSN ID to something meaningful. Oh also - Sony doesn't mention that, but currently the only way to change back to one of your previous IDs is to contact the customer service. So I've changed my ID twice now, to 'save' a name for future use if I change my mind and I can't go back. I'm temporarily fucked until CS becomes more available (ie. when they're not spammed by millions of people sending tickets about a broken name change system :D )

Now I have a question how will it mess with my ps3 games such as my old cod games rockbands Metal gear etc not to mention all of my vita games especially the games I have platinum trophies in

Something to add is that all previous usernames will not become available they are permanently associated with your account so there no hope of getting a username already taken. I asked Sony after the name I wanted so taken but I couldn't find a user with it so asked when the old ones would become available after switching as was told they will never become available.
