I hope loot boxes are banned completely within the next 10 years I think the practice is disgusting the way developers pray on our children (being the biggest slice of the % of players who buy loot boxes), it is almost a crime against humanity to do such a thing to such vulnerable innocent people. Not to mention the affect it has on the families involved (mostly parents) with the massive unexpected bills that pop up all of a sudden and their kids not realising what they have done. This loot box culture has to be stopped it only benefits the mind set of a gambler and creates gambling addiction; there are much safer and better systems that can be put in to place to reward a player.

I wish they would have banned magic cards, crazy bones, pogs, and every other fad item we had as kids and wasted money on.... but seriously this behavior pattern is human nature, loot boxes are just an evolution of this, it's part of learning fiscal responsibility

@bburrows The issue is that it is more in the forefront of these children's lives than it has ever been before. I mean can you even recall having all those table top games with "lootbox" packs being shoved in your face on a daily basis just because you decided to play a video game?

loot boxes are not gambling, you are buying goods, even if you don't know what they are, also it sounds like they are blaming companies for kids being stupid, and there parents not teaching them. I think, like everyone else, that there should be regulation around loot boxes, in fact I don't think there should be random loot at all in games, but I'm going to say, again, you do not want the government doing it. These assholes have been trying to destroy gaming for 30+ years and your giving them the chance now. If you really want to effect positive change here stop buying them, stop buying the games and teach others about it so they might do the same.
