It bothers me that the Mario Run game's failure is attributed more to its payment model than its controls and gameplay. It's no wonder it didn't make much money. It's a one-button platform game on a mobil phone. This game is everyone's go-to example of why a pay-up-front model is inferior, but I would argue that the game's concept and design are more at fault. I mean, it probably IS an inferior mobil monitization method, but I just wish it was actually given a a more notable chance beyond this big-name game that simply looked unapealing to begin with.
