Are Loot Boxes Finally Dying?

I've said this before but loot boxes are not gambling. They are very similar and are predatory and in general just a terrible practice but they aren't the same. As for government regulation, they will fuck it up, I want it to work out and for them to do a good job but that just isn't what the US government does. There needs to be regulation around loot boxes to at least keep them honest but it needs to be tailored to the problem by people who understand the problem, and I guarantee the US government doesn't.

I would also argue that R6 alpha packs don’t count, because you can’t buy an alpha pack with real money. You can buy them solely through currency that you win playing the game

When the companies can’t make money from loot boxes or other micro transactions, they’ll make that money by splitting content into DLC even more, or simply making base games more expensive.
