Apex Legends Devs Insult Playerbase After Disastrous AMA

Years ago, when others asked what I was in to, I identified as a gamer. This is why I don't anymore. True "Gamers" are too busy shitposting and overeacting to focus on whats actually important. I personally believe that things have gotten immeasurably better in the gaming space recently. The fact that I have my shitty brethren to thank for that doesn't elude me, but it does disturb me.

The developers aren't doing me a favor. They are making a product, which invites loads of criticism. Sure, the way that people deliver it can be unhelpful or mean spirited, but the devs are acting like they are just doing me a big favor for making a free-to-play game. Well, it's not like I play anyway, I just thought their tone and verbiage was hilariously self-destructive.

I quit playing this game because it was boring and had a lack of content. It wasnt a bad game but after I seen the lack of support for the game I bounced quick. It was great for the first week or two but honestly you cant sell a game and then talk shit to your consumer then expect your game to continue to sell lol.... I have to side with the game developer in this case though. Professional or not their still humans like the rest of us not robots if your a rude piece of shit to them and they respond in kind prepare to spend a long time unknotting your panties... gamers nowadays just nit pick and cry about somthing they could never create themselves if you dont like it dont fucking play it simple... lol

Literally I don't know how they thought this was a good idea, other than they thought that bad press is still press. A community manager is a customer service rep with better pay. If you wouldn't accept the Best Buy salesperson telling you to go fuck yourself when you're the umpteenth person that day to yell at them, then you know better than to do this. It sucks, but your job comes with a big fucking badge that says "Designated bigger person" and you don't get to take it off when you're representing the company. If you want to argue with fans, make a burner account like the rest of us. That said, I'm 100% sympathetic to the burnt out and frustrated ass devs, because I know how it feels to have someone get DEEPLY personal and attack the content of your character because they don't like the company you work for or a part of your job you can't control. Like goddamn, if you hate the game and the devs so much, then don't play.

Im with the devs on this one tbh. Like, honestly people on the internet are so entitled and accustomed to being able to say whatever they want without any backlash (and if they do receive backlash they spin it as if they are being hurt and are now weak and defenseless). Im glad these two people decided to actually call them out on it and stick up for themselves. If people are gonna be upset that the person their treating like inhuman waste tells them theyre being a dick, then let them be upset about it imo. People just want shit to complain about, especially with free to play games (even ones where you cant pay to win). Call em out on it, stand up for yourself. Dont let entitled assholes continually verbally beat on you without consequences. (Reminds me a little bit about how Gearbox bans people on their forum for misgendering FL4K intentionally. Good step imo, enforce your boundaries where you can)

While I do think the people on Reddit are being needlessly hostile towards respawn, I’m not going to sugar coat it, Respawn are being greedy and bullshit artists here. Like they themselves said, they have 8-10 million active players on Apex, so there’s absolutely no excuse they can make that would make an event with no feee option that requires a MINIMUM of $200 to get the final item acceptable. They could have easily made an event where you could get he final item for free but have the free option be incredibly grindy or just allow players to pay $10 or something to bypass the grind and even if as little as 10% of the payerbase chose to bypass, respawn would make $10 million. So while it absolutely could have been put in more diplomatic terms, the fact of the matter is that Respawn is absolutely being a bunch of greedy bullshit artists. Also, as a side note, I don’t even play Apex so this isn’t me being mad about the game, I’m just sick and tired of the blatant overmonitization of games.
