Interesting. Curious on how this will affect digital games.
I miss The Patch. :(
me too. i'm going to rtx sydney next week...last year they had a Know panel which was my favourite panel of the event. this year no Patch or Know panel at all :(
I buy most of my games preowned or digital these days anyway, so I couldn't care less on the cost front.
The game is still made by an out of country developer/publisher so it being digital doesn't mean anything. You will still pay the tariff. That unfortunately is how it works.... even if you don't pay tax for the digital version.... period.
Buying the game pre-owned falls into a grey area as far as the tariff goes. Seeing as you pay tax for a product that is being resold they will more than likely argue that the tariff still applies do to it still being a foreign product being sold.
But Gus, there's a difference between the price of games going up and a third party doing a money grab. The prior could result in more money being available for future projects while the latter is just a dick move.
Interesting.
Wonder how the industry and gamers will react.
Just one more thing Trump is going to ruin.
As a Bernie supporter I knew what I was back when I opposed TPP, so I got what I asked for. Now the only worry is how the rework of trade deals is done
Why would I want more games to be produced in the US? The rest of the world play games too so we'd still have to pay more wouldn't we? Unless I'm mistaking the way the tariff works. I live in Ireland and we already pay way too much for games, they used to be 50 euro for a new game and now it's 60, and if you buy console games physically, it's 65. Currently, that is closer to the US prices than it was before but back when they changed it 60 euro was about 75 dollars, and 65 was around 80 dollars, but now the euro sucks and the dollar is better so the gap has closed a bit.
americans wants more games to be produced in the US so its cheaper for americans. haven't you heard? america is the only country that matters apparently! /sarcasm
I got the sarcasm don't worry XD
In theory, all things considered, I'd be okay with this. In Practice, I'm uncertain whether or not they could pull this off in a way I'd be okay with.
We already had our prices shoot up from 59.99 to 79.99 for new games in Canada about 3-4 years ago! Was a rough switch for sure. Oh how i miss those days lol.
