As silly as this is, I do think that it's the best version of the console. Too bad it didn't come out a couple years ago. It's probably just going to go the way of the GBA Micro. A novel idea, but too late in the series to make much of a difference. Then again, it's hard to predict how... ANYTHING will go when it comes to Nintendo.

The Switch is intended to mainly be a home console with limited portable functionality. Nintendo made this very clear from the start. Why am I the only one that remembers this?!?

I know right? it's like everyone completely forgot that little tidbit.

Just because you use it as a portable, doesn't mean that's what it is meant to be, the DS line is still their portable console, the Switch is a home console according to Nintendo anyway.

Seriously, it makes them sound like they don't know what they are talking about.

It doesn't really matter what Nintendo wants to call it though...it matters how it is actually viewed, and it is most definitely viewed as a portable/home console hybrid.

Also, don't forget Nintendos own advertising: They made it abundantly clear they want you to use it as a portable device as well as home console.

Thus: It absolutely competes with the DS line for quite a few people.

It's also worth noting that the US market is different from other markets as well as the fact that in many other places carrying around a Switch is more likely to get you mugged than let you play games - the DS line is rather more inconspicuous and the new one could (at a glance) be easily mistaken for one of the many earlier and less valuable models.
