Next Season
Not gonna lie, I'll probably play it. I t kinda came out of the blue, it's not like they teased us for months only to unveil this so I don't really see a problem.
I personally don't have a problem with this as most bridge construction games are a fun set of casual puzzles that can be played for a short while. That being said, anyone who can read the "steam-y" waters would not have gone fishing. Attaching the franchise name to an off-shoot game is just asking for trouble. They probably did it to get some attention, it's hard enough to make money off of steam right now, so in a business sense, it was both the right move and wrong move at the same time.
I will probably pick up the mobile version of this game as it's good to have something to play while in the waiting room at the dentists office or having 5 minutes to kill waiting for a friend somewhere. I love the portal games but this is a little bit of a disappointment overall, Valve should really get back to some first party developing, LFD, Half-Life and Portal were all great series' that deserve continuation.
I'm honestly surprised that this was even made by Valve, Portal 2 seemed to be a good final chapter for the Portal franchise. And if there was to be a Portal 3 or Portal 2 episode 1 it would probably just be puzzle after puzzle and less story seeing as GLaDOS would be more careful dealing with other AI and human test subjects after the events of Portal and Portal 2. I don't know if Portal Bridge Constructor will be good or bad but it should at least be interesting.
meh, I'm not really upset. I love the portal games, but I'm not exactly expecting a 3rd. It takes place in a funny world, so I can see a spin-off game like this being fine. Probably won't buy it though.
Also, as old as it is, they still update TF2 from time to time with good, new content, which I enjoy.
To be fair, Value could have been a much bigger dick by hyping a new Portal game being developed and then making this announcement three months later.
