2017
Next Season
Okay, let's get a few things straight
VAC Doesn't ban people from steam entirely nor does it effect any of the games they bought that aren't VAC protected (Mostly valve published/made games) The VAC wave only banned players using detectable hacks in CSGO and TF2, TF2 is a free game and no one bought it in a summer sale, and people who bought CS:GO knew what the risks were.
Valve bans people in waves so people will start to feel comfortable hacking and say valve isn't going to do anything, it lures people into false sense of security on purpose, so when high value accounts get banned, It's a huge warning to everyone else who wants attempt it in the future.
Also, I feel like it isn't right to have these people reporting on PC gaming news when they clearly have some beef with PC gaming. Steam isn't a monopoly, It's the best option because it's not a paid service like Origin Access and has had a decade and a half of time under it's belt in developing a service that works
But Steam pretty much is a monopoly. They control the market, have a huge market share (I don't know the numbers and am far too lazy to look it up) and they make it practically impossible for new businesses to enter the market. Whilst they aren't a complete monopoly, they do hold the market. And as you said, that's because it is an easy and free option. I am a PC gamer (I own only three consoles - a Nintendo Wii, a Nintendo 3DS and a Playstation 2...) and I love me some Steam.
Many of Rooster Teeth are console gamers, but I wouldn't say that they are against PC gaming, nor are they against Steam. Being a Monopoly doesn't have to be a terrible thing - they offer the best service and everyone knows it. So (almost) everyone uses it. Doesn't mean they don't have some "interesting" business ideas.
I can agree with some of those statements. As for them being against PC Gaming, I meant I feel they were kind of biased right off the bat in the video calling Steam a monopoly mockingly, followed by tons of misinformation about how VAC works.
You took a half baked story, filled in the gaps with biased opinion and conjectures, and presented it as news; maybe this is what passes as reporting in America these days, but I'm disappointed, not surprised but disappointed. I miss the Funhaus guys doing the news.
Love it, making cheaters spend more money before banning them is genius. Steam trolled the cheaters and now they're butt-hurt. Boo-Fing-hoo. Let it be a lesson to those guys.
nice
