Well the developers are not wrong.
I don't want poorly made ports if they look worse and run worse than the original. There is a reason I never bought Call of Duty for the Wii. I want games that fully optimize and use the consoles advantages. Give me a new Mario Party, Super Monkey Ball, Okami, Metroid, Pikmin, or Sonic Adventures.
WHO IS THE DOGGO introduce doggo to camera plz
Everyone just needs to move on from wanting AAA ports for Switch. It needs games made specifically for it.
Cause that went so well on their last console.
Other than one or two of the responses, it sounds more like devs are just stating facts rather than "putting down" the Switch or "calling it out". Big AAA games designed for the current "beefy" consoles won't run on a modern HANDHELD system. Go figure.
I can't tell if a tons of gamers' expectations are actually are actually this silly or if it's simply being reported as if they are.
Slight problem there: According to Nintendo, the Switch is a home console, not a handheld. The DS will continue to be their handheld.
Also, it's not just Big AAA games for the current "beefy" consoles, seeing as when undocked, the Switch is actually slower than the Wii U.
In fact, this very video mentions several B games that are having problems with the Switch. It's about on par with the 360/ps3; ( about 1/3 slower undocked, about 50% faster docked )...and those are 11 and 12 year old consoles. They're a full decade behind on the hardware.
Nintendo also calls their favorite ape "Donkey", so what? The thing is a tablet. It's a good tablet with a bunch of cool tricks, but a tablet. You get my point.
Fair point on the B games.
A tablet designed to play PS3 games or 360 games would be cool and would totally sell. I don't think "decade behind on hardware" really applies here considering the size and intent of the Switch. I don't consider my phone to be a "decade behind on hardware" when I compare it to a PC, even though it's clearly "weaker" due to its size and intended use, despite how much new tech has been packed into its tiny casing.
Yes, we all know it's a hand held...but that doesn't matter. You mention its "Intended Use" and that's the catch. It only matters what Nintendo intends for it, and they intend for it to be their current generation "Home Console." They already have a hand held, and that's where they will put the effort for mobile-esque games. They want the big hitters on the Switch, and the Devs are telling them it isn't good enough in many cases for that.
Nintendo is cutting the floor out from under the Switch, and gamers are calling them on it.
