Super Mario 64 Online NEW DMCA EDITION

This isn't really news, the DMCA was inevitable.

Nintendo's just fulfilling their duty as highly coveted IP holders, there's nothing malicious or mean-spirited about it.

Besides, it's the internet, we don't NEED them to tolerate fan-products, they're not hard to find even after they're "taken down". I played Pokemon Uranium just a few days ago. These things don't actually die if you put just a little effort into finding them.

Putting up a patreon that's practically based on a fan project does seem to be in bad taste though. Directly making money off of somone's IP is pretty much the epitome of what the IP holder's don't want. This is why we can't have nice things...

Nintendo just being dicks again... *sigh* Yes, it's their IP, but on two counts they are being dicks; if these BASIC gameplay mechanics were put in the original game then there would be no need for massively popular mods to be made, these mods and many others support the continued playing of their IP and the continued interest and purchasing of their IP... i.e. the reason they continue to sell so much stuff despite being exceptionally unoriginal with respect to software (better not talk about the hardware failures or we'll be here all day).

But then the bigger the business the bigger the dick...
