Voice chat and Nintendo, oh I love that video Ashley and Ryan did talking about the smartphone app.
Nintendo loves going at their own pace.
Nice comparison Ashely :)
I think the biggest part of this that they didn't touch on (except a small bit at the end) is that this solution is only if you want both Voice Chat AND Game Audio on your headset. If you're fine with the game audio coming out of your tv/switch and only having voice chat on a headset then you're completely good with whatever current headset you have that can connect to your phone.
I'm still don't think it's anywhere near a good option, I'm just pointing out that this accessory isn't a requirement for voice chat.
Honestly just what an abomination this setup is. I'm fully aware this is only if you are wanting game and chat audio in headsets, but for fucks sake we already have that figured out. Both current-gen consoles, that released four years ago mind you, have all but perfected the dual audio inputs. Sure with last-gen it was clunky, like on the 360 you had to use adapters on Turtle Beaches to steal the audio from the TV, but that has been solved with the implementation of bluetooth and other wireless tools.
There's a point to where Nintendo being behind in every conceivable way technologically is cute, but when it's actually just a literal hinderance to attain something that already exists, it's just pathetic.
I don't understand why nintendo couldn't take a hint from every other console since original Xbox and just incorporate ports for audio into the controller. Them taking steps back makes no sense from any standpoint. Perhaps they have to increase the size of the Joy Cons to allow for more batter to support headsets, that sounds awesome, kills two birds because the Joy Cons are difficult for any person with normal size hands to hold and use. And that just reminds me of why in the world should I pay $80 for a "Pro Controller" thats no better than 2002's Gamecube Wavebird.
I look forward to seeing how Nintendo solves this serious issue in the future if they ever do.
Thanks for the update.
