2017
Next Season
It's really not that hard. I did the same thing with Evolve. The second they announced it was going to be pay-to-win I immediately canceled my pre-order and to this day I have never played it, not even once. In fact, that was the moment that I stopped pre-ordering games all together because of that type of shady business practice. Maybe loot boxes "evolved" (pun intended) from the original pre-order controversies?
In the last year or two I also stopped buying season passes the same time I buy games. I wait till I complete the game and then I decide if I want to invest more money into it to continue playing it or not. I'm actually surprised by how often I feel satisfied with just the base game....and how much money I'm saving on games now because of that. It adds up quick.
honestly, I'm a fairly (and pleasently) surprised that the community has had this much of an affect. The short-term effects are pretty clear for now, but I'm interested in how the long-term effects will play out and whether or not we'll be able to recognize them.
Hawaii and Belgium have declared loot boxes to be gambling... This is going to bring regulators down on EA... What do y'all think that will do to their business model? Say goodbye to that in 2018.
