GET THE FUCK OVER, its a game not IRL
Wait
so when Burnie throws parties.....
I don't agree with taking the game down.
I wonder why people make a big deal when it comes to sex and mature theme of that nature.
Wonder if they will offer the "uncensored" version somewhere else?
I believe the distinction of what they want to allow is the difference between games that happen to have some nudity/sex in them and games that focus on nudity/sex as one of the primary features. It's probably beating a dead horse by now to say it, but this isn't censorship in the legal sense. It's their platform, they can do what they want, and I'm guessing they just don't want to set a precedent that would invite more "questionable" games to their platform.
On the flip side, something like this is exactly what a competing platform could double down on to usurp Steam's status as the popular platform it is if there's enough demand.
"It's training users in predatory tactics for sexual assault" the same way COD trains its users in homicidal airport shootings: It doesn't.
With the claim that it's training people;
Couldn't you just as easily make a counter claim that it'll teach people how to spot such tactics?
I'm just curious as to what separates such things. For example, where's the line between training someone for self defence and training them for assault?
The more I think on it, the more it seems that any experience is both positive and negative training of some kind left ultimately up to the individual self.
I think that depends on the presentation and the context of this game, especially on sexual agency, a topic that is not universally agreed upon. The mere fact sexual assault happens at such a high rate indicates that we can't make an assumption of someone playing or watching the game.
If the game doesn't indicate that such behavior is bad and actively discourages against it, we can't rely on the player to realize on their own that such tactics are bad. If it's like anything FunHaus plays, I imagine that the game would actually reward such play, with a sex scene or pixelated titties. That would seemingly reinforce the behavior, encouraging those who think and play along those lines.
Wait wait wait. Is it a bad time to quote Tovar from Strangerhood?
Cant wait to see Funhaus play this game.
