Next Season
#Vita2Hype
The problem with the Vita was its games. It is hard to tell with the distance however many of the games that we praise the Vita for came out relatively late in it's life cycle. The one thing that big N has always done better that anyone else is stellar first party support. The initial batch of game for the Vita had no system selling games. If you look at the Metacritic score for all games there is a grand total of ONE game over 90(P4G) in it's entire lifespan and that game came out Y1. It never saw anything approaching that ever again.
The issue now is that if Sony attempts to compete in this space again, they are years behind. There would need to be several years to develop hardware and then several more to create several phenomenal AAA titles to support it. Anything less and they will fall into the same vicious cycle that doomed both of there previous attempts.
Ashley, Gus, taking shots on the PSP - I've still got 1 in my closet
collecting dust and alas, it brings thoughts of what could've been. Oh Sony, I loved Gravity Rush and MGS for the Vita. It was Snake on the go, and Gravity Rush was a fantastic game for the handheld which deserved more praise, imo.
The PSP came out 2004 of Dec. & the VITA came 2011 of Dec. So maybe Sony will try a 3rd time next year - wouldn't be surprised at that, or if it the new handheld seems similar to the Switch, cuz they've been beaten to the punch before on designs. Sony had the 1st OK hand, then a decent 2nd, and just said meh, stopping production and R&D in to making better handhelds. Nintendo has done well improving on their failed mobile platforms, there's no room to argue otherwise and Sony big wigs are envious at this point.
.... .... .... About the PSPgo, yeah remember that, me neither.
