I don't think that any self-regulations would work for this. The ESRB simply rates games and then puts it back into the consumers hands on whether or not they want to purchase it. But if the problem is people becoming addicted to pseudo-gambling of loot boxes, then they aren't in the right minds to make that decision. I seriously doubt that any self-regulating body would actually ban or limit loot boxes the way that a government would, since they would still want to make as much profit as possible while keeping up the appearance that they are the 'good guys'
