Not working on the opening scene of the game right away is not that big of a deal from a development standpoint. Games can be made out of order in pretty much the same way movies can, with different scenes being shot/levels being developed at different times, being put in order later in the process.
My first time checking back to the know to see if they cleaned up their act and I see that..no, they really haven't. Still with click bait headlines with no actual bearing on the information and a great deal of editorializing the information that they actually have.
For example, they seem to be jumping to conclusions based on the comments made by the producer. It's not that the producer doesn't know anything, but that when you are dealing with episodic content, you have the ability to tweak things a bit to make things better based on the information provided.
For example, Starcraft 2 was episodic content. After they released wings of liberty, they listened to feed back from the fans and cut back the single player campaign so it wasn't as long (because wings is actually quite a slog). Then again they altered things for the protoss campaign so that they weren't so hero dependant like heart of the swarm was (kerrigan was in almost every level). The producers comments are basically him not wanting to make hard comments about anything that could change down the line based on player feedback. But they twist it to seem like no one has any clue what anyone is doing and that it's barely being worked on, which is not what he said at all.
Likewise, the development cycle based from announcement to the fact that their actually in development already is pretty fast for square.
Kingdom Hearts 2 had a trailer at the end for kingdom hearts birth by sleep that you unlocked in 2005. It didn't come out until 2010. So the 'little progress' you're alluding too is more like break neck pacing for that team in comparison.
But please, continue taking quotes out of context, creating click bait narratives and generally being about as valuable a news source for games as the onion is for politics. It's a shame, the know started out promising, but there's really no reason to check it anymore.
"Playable" in the original context may mean "completed and shipped, playable in your own home" since this is a translation. Reporting on this is actually pretty weak news since no one is doing a direct translation nor is anyone repeating their words verbatim. It's all conjecture with most of of the context being changed to suit our language. I don't mind either way about the game being a long time out or this year, but seriously, don't start rioting over what's said in another language when you don't speak the language yourself.
Hell, I'll take a crack at 'the know' style writing for the fun of it.
"Is Rwby ending after season 4?"
"According to twitter posts made by head writers and producers of the popular rooster teeth anime, RWBY, they have only just finished production on Season 4, who's finale is set to air February 4, 2017. This has lead many to worry that the production staff is being over worked and are being burnt out on the project.
Also, creative director Burnie Burns stated in an interview with entertainment weekly that he hopes that there is a live action movie for the series in the future. Does this mean that the RWBY creative are being redirected away from the animated production towards a live action feature film?
Further evidence that Season 4 will be the last season, is that Rooster Teeth is having their yearly Australian Convention, RTX Sydney and have not announced if they will be showing a trailer or episode from season 5. Clearly, Rooster Teeth must be considering abandoning the popular franchise."
Clearly none of that is true, but pretty much follows the know's content style (and quality) to the letter. For the thumb nail, maybe have the scene from the credits where team rwby is all sitting back to back, but alter it so it looks like they're all sitting in a puddle of blood with blood splatters on them. That should get the clicks.
