Last gen, I purchased a PS3 at launch (yes, I sunk $AU1000 on a games console, but at the time it was the cheapest Bluray player on the market). Later on I bought a 360, which for various reasons was replaced twice. At some stage, I also jumped on the Wii bandwagon. A number of my friends also bought multiple 360s. This generation, I bought an XBone at launch. That's it. I suspect there is a large percentage of people who fit a similar pattern.
I will consider a "project scorpio" upgrade when more details (mainly price) are made available.
Where's Funhaus?
i think last gen wii skewed the figures to a stupid degree. There were also i feel more exclusives that were system sellers last gen so more reason to get both ps3/360 this gen there are fewer reasons to have both more than one console (py ps4 is at this point basically a blueray player(i think i have 3 games for it that i cant get on xbox one and i really only have it because i swapped it for my old xbox one with someone from work i probably wouldnt of gone out and bought one) i use my wii-u way more). There aslso has been economic issues for years so less people can justify one or more consoles. Kids get used to playing games on ipads and more used to shorter experiences if all youve ever played are mobile games something like say zelda/skyrim that takes long periods of concentration on play sessions longer than 10 mins is probably an alien concept
Doorstops :). Nice one Ryan.
For Xbox's big drop off I would guess:
- the step back of the Xbox One's dashboard compared to the Xbox 360's
- you have to buy the kinect with the xbox at launched
- they said that the console would be always on, which people didn't like
- they said you always had to be online. Sucks for people who have shitty slow internet like me.
- the slow crawl of backwards compatibility on games
- the broken games coming out. Does Halo Master Chief Collection work now after all this time?
- a lot of day one patches. Especially the one the ones that were as big or bigger than the game you purchased
Reasons why I went to PC.
Normal Tall :)
Mica at the end there had me DYING with laughter.
In my dream, all gamers unite on one platform. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft don’t have to worry about selling their product, instead they would help developers make even better games. The developers would not have to decide which market to work for. And most importantly, this would let the gaming community go from enemies to friends, and even one big family. But for some reason, something is telling me that shit isn’t fucking happening any time soon.
