Another possible reason that digital games stay the same price as physical games, (at least at launch), is that maintaining the servers that host the game downloads costs money, particularly when you have millions of users browsing and downloading games frequently, or particularly when a new major IP comes out and a lot of users are downloading it day one. The loss of the "making a physical copy" price is likely offset by the cost to host and ensure a quality download of the game from the servers. In all likelihood, it's a combination of this and wanting to keep physical retailers happy, that keeps the price the same at launch......

Glad I went to PC.  

I still like cartridges better, and don't especially mind paying a little extra for it. However, a $10 difference isn't believable or justifiable to me. It should be like $5 tops. 

If the distribution costs between digital and physical games is so steep, then they should just split the difference rather than ramping both up to the max. Of course, no business-minded folks would ever accept that way of thinking...

Don't cartridges (flash drives) also consume less power than a disc drive, which requires a motor to spin the disc and a laser to read the data? And saving power is an issue for a portable device.

If I really want that game, I am (usually) actually ready to pay a little more to get a physical medium, because I don't trust the digital stuff. Plus there is a chance, if publishers are customer-friendly, that I get an actual, printed manual, sometimes with backstories, artwork and most importantly interface info that I can look up without quitting the game or anything. With modern technology, I don't think there is any drawback to using a 'cartridge'.

Ideally, buying the physical game entitles me to the digital download for ease of use. That's what CD Project RED did with their Witcher series. Now I own nice boxes on my shelf, which I like, some not self-printed bonus content and a digital version I can simply download with all patches and updates without hassle – way to go!
