Five years is on the short side of a console life. I would prefer to get a few more years out of the system. I think seven or eight years would be best, since they just released the pro version.
nah we just got spoiled with the lifespan of 360 and ps3. on AVERAGE, console life-spans was around 5-6 years. They are just contradicting their promises of "1 console to rule them all" thinking :(
If they did, I would officially start my switch over to PC permanently. The reason I play on console is so I don't have to constantly drop hundreds of dollars to upgrade my system to keep up with the best experience. I just traded my PS4 in for a Pro, all they would tell me by releasing a new console next year is that it is no use dropping so much money on it, because they are just going to release a new one a few years later.
"Like what we see on PC where I can still go back and run my old Doom and Quake games that I ran so many years ago and still see the best new 4K games come out -- and my whole library is always with me." - Phil Spencer (2017)
Phil Spencer is either a liar, has lots of old PCs that can play the different generations of games (courtesy of Microsoft's constant obsoleting of old software by releasing new OSs), manages to get multiple Microsoft OSs to boot on a single machine (he deserves a Knighthood for this, at least if it tells the rest of the world how he did it, just two is a b*tch never mind more than that :( or is shit-hot on getting grey-market (as far as Microsoft is concerned) emulators to work.
I solved the problem with a combination of multiple machines, multiboot machines and emulators on Linux... still some things do not work :( - all because of my love for the original Settlers, Transport Tycoon, Doom and VGA Planets (to name but the most important to me.
I don't know. The Spence probably has a nice powerhouse of a PC. and really, all you need is win 10 and win xp if you REALLY want all the old ones and new ones. XP actually had decent compatability. That said running a VM is always a viable alternitive assuming you have enough ram... same with being able to boot 2+ OSs. You are just wanting to make sure you dont have any bottleneck in your cpu vs ram powers. Seriously though... a VM is the way to go instead of multiple boots: Load one up and then just have a VM there that you can turn on and off at will.
Then it'd only be worth buying a console for the exclusives for him? Good thing Xbox has... oh, wait...PS4 it is then... ;)
Nah, PS5 doesn't make sense yet.
Also, I find it interesting that the most promoted aspect of a "genless" console is this crazy new thing where you can play older games on newer consoles. The use of backwards compatibility has been around for years. It's the forwards compatibility that I'm concerned about, and quite frankly, don't believe they'll deliver on in a satisfying manner.
I like seeing Adam in videos, even if it's just Know reads. I don't see enough of him anymore.
i agree. he was an awesome part of the network.
