Join us as we break down the 48 minute Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay demo CD Projekt RED dropped today, run through the demo PC specs, and get some extra details from Adam's demo at e3.
I'm getting a Watchdogs E3 demo vibe, which makes me very nervous. I don't think that CD will pull an Ubisoft on us, but it's hard not the get that feel to this demo
I played a fair amount of Cyberpunk 2020 as a kid. A couple years ago my friends and I tried to start a new campaign in it and we realized that the rules for the game did not age well. However, I've always been a sucker for anything in the cyberpunk genre and the Cyberpunk 2020 setting in particular is near and dear to my heart. Needless to say I am super pumped for Cyberpunk 2077. I also bought the Funhaus 2034 shirt at RTX day one after seeing Adam Kovic wearing it at Let's Play Live the night before.
As a side note, if you're interested in playing a cyberpunk genre pen-and-paper RPG, check out Genesys from Fantasy Flight Games (it uses the same rules as the Star Wars RPGs that they also make and are just about the best RPGs I've ever played). It is a generic game system that can be easily adapted to any setting (like if GURPS was good) and they have a section to help you adapt it to their cyberpunk setting, Android, which is also a really well-done and really, really fleshed-out setting.
@Mixy That's pretty typical for developer gameplays. Remember they just got the game 100% playable a few days ago. They probably took the most fully developed path, and it seemed like they were trying to show off the basic mechanics while taking a slightly sneakier path so the combat mechanics weren't entirely spoiled. Plus, it's an intro mission, so it makes sense that they would push you towards certain situations to teach you how to respond.
Soooo... This is supposed to be next GTA? I'm just curious how they are going to turn it into a service, so it can have a reliable revenue stream. Have they announced any DLC? And yes, I've read about CD-PR's claim about leaving greed to other developers. Normally, I would just assume that they can survive off of GOG and their game engine... but no one is using REDengine and the online storefront market is fairly competitive (and not really healthy competitive).
the "bullet sponeness" is justified in the fact that most of the people your likely fighting aren't your nornal meatbags. This is a setting were people can have Kevlar skin after all.
CDPR seems to do a great job portraying the source material in their games. While they did make changes for the sake of the video game medium, they are really faithful recreations and I hope that we're going to get the same experience in the final game.
