BlizzCon 2018's Big Announcements Disappointing?

That’s... ouch. Just ouch. I don’t really care about Diablo one way or the other, I just feel bad for everyone involved.

I have bought D3 three times now (first Xbox, then PS4, and now Switch) and it is easily one of my top 5 games of all time. Seeing this reveal... either Blizzard is trying to shuffle this off to a farm to die because they don't want to support a franchise which cannot be monetized regularly or their passion for the Diablo franchise is dead. Considering they have ported and kept adding content to D3 for years you would think that this is not the case, but I digress. I'll admit that, while I dislike mobile games, Diablo Immortal looks good graphically, but from what I've heard from hands on accounts it doesn't have that hook. Only time will tell, hopefully Blizz can salvage this somehow otherwise they are going to lose a rather loyal fanbase...

Warcraft 3 reforged makes me so happy. I played the hell out of that game in high school. I was hoping for something better Diablo wise. I would of taken 2 remastered over a mobile title.

My best guess is that Immortal is mainly for the Asian markets where 3D action games on mobile are more popular. Maybe trying build up the brand a bit over there before releasing a Diablo 4 or a Diablo 2 remake?

i just wanted a diabl 4. is that too much to ask? f mobile games. what a let down.

Diablo Immortals is not even developed by blizzard it is outsourced to a Chinese company

That announcement was absolutely terrible. Watching the Q+A after showed how completely tone deaf Blizzard was and that no Diablo fan in that audience wanted it. This seems like a step in killing a franchise.

Diablo is officially dead, modders can do a better upkeep and patches for the current game. Outsourcing the last dying breath of this franchise is like playing dress-up with your comatose Grandfather. It hurts. Its cringe. No-one wanted it. I was hoping for a Diablo 4 announcement, or even a Diablo 2 remaster would've been fantastic, but to try and port an entire franchise into an unwieldy type of console, not to mention that they don't take into account that most people don't have a phone that can handle those styles of mobile games. I know I'm only speaking for myself at this point, but my phone can barely handle Hearthstone, let alone a 3 dimensional, gorey, loot game like Diablo. idk, just seems like one of the least intelligent things they could've possibly done and that fact is being expressed in how much the Diablo fan base is giving it crap

I personally don't mind a mobile Diablo game, It's not the first time a franchise has shifted to something not in the norm, much like God of War and Kingdom Hearts, etc. but being on a mobile phone is it's own monster. I agree with the potential issues with control mapping, screen cover, and the likely to be immense Micro transactions which saddens me to a point but it's something many franchises do, but doesn't necessarily kill it. pointless and unneeded filler/prequel storylines are nothing new.

I mean for the people who've been paying attention, we've known a diablo mobile games been in development since at least early this year. So this wasnt a surprise for me. I still dont want it of course but it doesn't get any particular hate from me (it looks better than d3, but for me personally thats not a high bar). But you nailed it on the head with the tone deaf comment. Blizzard has BEEN tone deaf for a while now, and it's only becoming more obvious and more frustrating as time goes on. I mean if I wanted to play original characters in a moba, I'd play LoL or Dota. I play HotS because its a blizzard all stars game. I have no desire to play this run of the mill anime princess with daddy issues and a pet monster. This may seem like a separate complaint but its all tied together under the tone deaf thing, they should KNOW this isn't what their audience wants. It all just feels distinctly unblizzard for long time fans.

Wish we got Warcraft 4 and Diablo 4 World of Warcraft 2 and Overwatch 2 and do their own version of the Orange Box.
