2018
Next Season
meh, sounds more like he's just salty about not being able to keep up with all the good and successful single player games that've been coming out recently. 2017 was a huge year for all types of games, so anything less than the best would naturally struggle in the AAA realm.
Anyways, there's plenty of blame to go around. Gamers ARE pretty demanding. But I think a decent chunk of the blame should go to marketing always trumping up games as if they're the best thing ever before they come out. If it's advertized as something better than the devs can keep up with, it can only lead to dissapointment.
yeah, we ask for too much? asking for gaming experiences on par to games that came out 10-15 years ago?!
Not graphically on par. Textures are like 10 times bigger. Someone has to make those. They need to make animations twice as detailed, given 60FPS being the norm. Just because processors can handle more polygons doesn't mean it's just as easy to make an Uncharted game as, say, Crash Bandicoot. I used to make Knights of the Old Republic mods, and textures between the two games that came out not even two years apart were three times as big in some cases.
I think the problem is how much games cost proportional to the hours you can get out of them. There's no reason something with an 8-hour campaign like Gears of War 4 should cost as much as a 100-hour game like FF15 or Horizon or Persona. I'm more than ready to pay $70 or $80 for a game as long as it's complete.
