Nintendo's Cloud Saves Show It Still Doesn't 'Get' Online

Does Nintendo not have a single employee that understands how modern services work? Nintendo seems to be the old timer who won’t change its habits; even thou the kids(modern day gamers and companies) keep showing them the easier and better of doing things.

This is nothing new for Nintendo. I honestly can't remember the last time they made any kind of announcement and the community hasn't been left scratching their heads. This archaic approach to the gaming industry just isn't sustainable in 2018 and beyond. My honest opinion is that they'll limp their way through the life cycle of the Switch and probably whatever console comes after it but that's it. After that I think modern services and technology, at that point, is going to surpass Nintendo so much that consumers aren't going to waste their time and hard earned dollars on their hardware anymore.

I miss memory cards... I really wish they could at least draw a distinction between offline game save data and online game save data, and just let you save offline game data freely. The only person you can cheat offline is yourself (and maybe some local co-op friends, but they'd be close enough to punch you in the face if you tried cheating against them).

Meh. I don't think I've ever used a cloud save intentionally. I only recently realized that I'd turned it off on Steam a week ago from god knows how long ago. Granted, the Switch being something that people bring with them places means that people will probably need to replace it more often then a PS4 or Xbox. Still doesn't seem like that big a deal to me in the grand scheme of things if it's only multiplayer heavy games that are effected. Either way I'd like a physical memory option, just make it so a game like Splatoon can't save to it or something.

So much for buying Dark Souls on my Switch. Cloud saves are hugely important on a game I plan on putting that much time in to. I’ve never heard of someone exploiting cloud saves on Xbox. I think they’re definitely jumping at shadows that aren’t the serious issue they think it is.

How can be Nintendo bested by a third party developer on their system? Fortnite for switch has: online (multisystem) saves, voice-chat without external device required (just a compatible headset), online free multiplayer... Nintendo WTF?
