I totally understand that you don't really report on drama, but man.. That cinematic trailer on youtube. Things went south pretty fast over there, comments disappeared and a load of dislikes vanished into thin air. Could be a youtube thing, some kind of server overload but other videos that get a lot of attention in a small amount of time seem to do just fine. So who knows..
For me though, I haven't played a Blizzard game in a few years. WoW became old a few expansions back. Diablo 3 was fun for 20 hours or so.. Tried Hearthstone out but it didn't stick with me. I feel like they are too invested in their current tech which is for the most part outdated and not very "next gen" or even current gen for that matter. To get me back they would need to invest in something totally new, be that WoW 2 or another existing franchise with a modern engine, or something completetly new.
I think all gamers need to accept the fact that mobile gaming is not going anywhere and there can be good games on mobile. Devs need to realize which part of their audience they are talking to. I dont mind blizzard going for a slice of the mobile pie, but just like EA, dont make a big announcement about it at a PC or console event. Blizzard has been almost exclusively pc for decades so this was a little out of the blue. Maybe its time for a mobile gaming convention....
@Emiscaryi really like their new rwby game, super mario run, pokemon go, madden, and dragalia lost. all mobile games and all good for what they are which i think that is the important part. when i play a mobile game, i like to play for 1-5 minutes and then go on with my day and have the ability to play amywhere. the fames i mentioned are fun and entertaining for that purpose. they are not the type of games you play for multiple hours at a time like you do on pc and console. they are also not as in depth cause they cant be. they are meant to be picked up, played for a few minutes and put down multiple times a day while still giving you a feeling of progression and enjoyment. you cant pick up a game like skyrim, dota or even cod like that. you sounf like a pc or console gamer and that is fine, i am too but these games have value. just look at their sales. you probably dont like them due to microtransactions but they are completely free and the good ones give out free stuff all the time unlike $60 pc and console games that still have microtransactions so the argument is mute
Blizzard has gotten fat and lazy. They have lost site of the product and its target customers behind budgetary numbers and margins leading to the homogenization of multiple platforms (..such as Diablo and World of Warcraft mythic plus runs). World of Warcraft and Diablo have become the Simon Says of PC games. The patterns change but the lights don't. Someone give Blizzard a flash light they are lost in the dark of corporate lush. They must be getting bad advice from Apple's development team.
you guys forgot about the fact that activision/blizzard also super shadily started having downvotes on their announcement video deleted and even deleted and re-uploaded it to curb the downvotes. Blizz is bordering on EA level shitty and it really hurts as a long time Blizzard fan
As someone who worked the blizzcon store (via third-party company), I saw first hand that no one was expecting this and were very dissapointed. The day before the event people were so excited and hoping for an expansion, or at the very least a teaser for 4. I had people tell me that they only came for Diablo and had high expectations. Diablo fans definitely got shafted this year.
