Crossplay has been a hot topic with gamers and console makers in recent months. Now, the highest authority at PlayStation's responded to explain just why Sony's not interested in it.
This just seems like a scenario of a vocal minority. And a VERY vocal peanut gallery (Xbox users who should really be quiet). If this was a truly meaningful issue, changes would be made. But a pretty massive chunk of PS4 users (myself included) couldnt give two shits about crossplay.
@Penguin124 I'm getting a bit tired of it too. No company wants crossplay, they exist to make money, and crossplay is detrimental to their business. The only reason we ever hear about it is that it's easy PR for the companies who are lagging behind, sales wise. That being said, I do like the fact that I can play the likes of War Thunder on PC with console friends, simply because I prefer mouse & keyboard. Give me native M&KB support on all consoles though, and crossplay would have absolutely zero relevance to me
@Penguin124 I'm pretty sure that most of the people advocating for crossplay are people that already have both consoles and want to narrow it down to 1, or people who don't want to get 2 consoles just to be able to play with all of their friends. And crossplay is for (obviously) multiplayer games, last I checked, which admittedly has been a few years, most people bought PlayStation for singleplayer games, so no shit a "massive" chunk of PS4 players don't care.
@Penguin124 No, I'm saying, well kinda implying, that the singleplayer-only people shouldn't and don't count for any crossplay issues. With that said, there's not very many people who play multiplayer games (a lot) more than singleplayer games on PS4 (or Xbox/Nintendo) and don't want crossplay.
And why are people pretending that Fortnite is the best on PC?... I can understand that for a game like Skyrim or other games that cant really shine on PC because of the mod community or graphical upgrades, but Fortnite? No. Playing Fortnite on PC adds nothing to the game that you cant get on Consoles. Except maybe more hackers...
@Penguin124 Yeah, that's why the best players in the world play on PS4. Oh wait, hold on. Breaking news coming in from someone without their head up their ass: They don't. Let's also have a look at Rocket League. Surely, a game played with controllers would be equal on the PS4 and the PC. Oh damn every single pro plays on PC? I wonder why. Clearly the PS4 is the superior platform. PC players generally want crossplay because the competition will be easier. lmfao
@Omfgn0wai No shit the professional gaming environment is on the PC... Just like every other game. That doesnt mean that the experience is better. A casual gamer doesnt gain anything from playing Fortnite on the PC as opposed to a console. PC doesnt offer any extra features. The only different is the devise you use to move your character around. So next time you decide to act like a condescending dickhead, maybe you should actually have a valid point.
@Penguin124 COD is on console more then PC. it is the only one. want to know why? consoles suck at basically every thing when compared to PC. PC has the biggest numbers of people. All these games that console people are going "LOL WE HAVE THIS AND THIS IS HETTER THEN THIS!" when most of these super popular games are on PC.
fortnite? started on PC.
PUBG PC.
battlefield? PC
siege? PC
@ZachDukeHera Do you have a point you are trying to get to? Or was this just where you decided to have verbal diarrhea? No one cares if you think PC is best. The whole "PC Master Race" thing just makes you look like an idiot.
Oh no.... a mobile phone card game isn't gonna be coming to PS4. How traumatic. Notice how they didnt pull Fallout 76? A game that would actually make an impact. Ya, its because no developer would actual jeopardize sales over such a meaningless issue. Bethesda used to be one of my favorite companies, but with the blatant lack of content, butchering of new content (Fallout 76), and this absurd back handed fanfare, they are quickly slipping
@Penguin124 from what I have learned they may actually not have fallout 76 on PS4.
it is still in questions from what I saw.
and Bethesda has not made a good fallout game. obsidian did
@ZachDukeHera I havent seen anything that alludes to Fallout 76 not coming out on the PS4. They seem to have been pretty clear that it is. And sure, NV was great, but I still much prefer Fallout 3. And 4 really wasnt as bad as people like to make it out to be.
Well that’s one of the reasons I bought the Xbox first this console generation. I also play all multiplayer games on xbox and only buy PlayStation exclusives on PlayStation.
Nobody on console should want crossplay with pc for competitive games like Siege it would just be them destroying you due to the contrast between controllers and mouse and keyboard.
@captianShade for FPS games I agree but like they said in the video games that are more casual like minecraft or ones that are best when played with a controller like rocket league are generally more entertaining when you can have an exponentially larger player pool that can be gained with cross play
@ryryboltwrap I suppose but I honestly don't know any PS players that are asking for it most of the stink about crossplay is coming from fortnite players and I really hope that game dies soon i'm sick of hearing about it.
Out of curiosity i have to ask, who owns a PS4 and wants cross play? I have a PS4 and i couldn't care less, but i also don't like multiplayer competitive games so i will freely admit I'm not the audience that WOULD care about this.
@TeamPhoenix I'm getting the spiderman ps4 pro, and itll be the first ps4 I've gotten, just so I can play singleplayer titles like spiderman, god of war, and the new spyro. if I want anything multiplayer I'll get it on PC.
@TeamPhoenix Yeah, I was thinking about this. Crossplay is a nice buzzword. Like Backwards Compatibility. It makes for a good news story but honestly I don't think gamers really sit around moping about it. Also, when you think about competitive multiplayer games, Rainbow Six: Siege for example, I can tell when someone is using a mouse and keyboard on their PS4. As someone who uses a controller, I dislike the idea of more M&KB users coming from PC into the console ecosystem. Its a massive advantage.
@TeamPhoenix I'm in the same boat. I have a PS4 but don't actually have any interest in its online multiplayer games for now. If Crossplay were a thing, I would happy for my fellow gamers, because it IS what's best for gamers. But that's about all it would be to me.
