For Christ's sake, you people need to stop "reporting" on short term declines in share value based on negative news like they mean anything. Stocks fluctuate on a day to day basis all of the time, and a decline of X% in a day is nothing. And for the love of God stop talking about declines in share value as in a "loss of X million dollars". They are paper losses that'll probably be wiped out within a week.
It's clear that Brian doesn't know shit about financial markets or stocks, because otherwise he wouldn't think that day to day losses are important at all.
@maka556you just said a loss of millions of dollars in A DAY is worked off in A FEW WEEKS the only reason it doesn't matter that much is because Activision is such a big company that all that does is postpone stuff AND HE'S SUPPOSED TO REPORT ON EVERYTHING NOT JUST SKIP OVER STUFF IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT DON'T WATCH IT
@maka556if it happened, then people WILL report on it. especially if it's something as interesting as this. not to mention 7.5% is the equivalent of millions to Activision.
@HeadHunter117 But again it is paper millions that they don't actually have to hand anyway and only have to account for at year end... so if it recovers by then - it will, if EA's can then anyone's can - there is no issue. It's also primarily a loss to shareholders, not to the company itself... so it doesn't matter at all to the running of their company, only to the voters they have that get very little say except once or twice a year and then within very defined bounds unless they are very large holders indeed - and those are few and far between and know more about this stuff that any of us.
Yeah but nobodies going to address how Youtube (and Blizzard) altered the dislike ratings on the Diablo Immortal cinematic trailer and deleted over 14,000 Comments as damage control...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l3cw4gswOY
@readerjjj And counting, never mind removing tens of thousands of dislikes from the video... possible latest estimates are hundreds of thousands (multiple sources confirmed, including page archives from multiple sources an other reliable sources that count these things for many if not all Youtube videos for other commercial purposes)... I think Youtube and Google has some explaining to do (oh, wait, that's not happening until hell freezes over) and Activision and Blizzard have a lot more explaining to do - how much egg do they really want on their face after this? More than Microsoft after the XBone always connected PR disaster? Yowzers.
I think if they did something like Gears of war did on E3 it would have been much better. Like everyone I also want a Diablo 4 game, but pushing them to eaven tease the game, could lead to potential lack of quality and/or more crunch time for the employes.
Blizzard clearly forgot that a majority of their audience is PC gamers and timed the presentation of a mobile game poorly. Also, while I disagree with the way some questions were asked, the people presenting it handled the backlash poorly with statements like "Do you all not have phones?" Clearly we have phones, but clearly you were pandering to the wrong audience. I, personally, do not put games on my mobile devices, since I play enough games on PC and consoles. It is just a personal preference.
This will not effect the company in a hard way. It still has major income from World of Warcraft, SC2, and Diablo3. It will drop off in few weeks, and most people will forget about it. until the release, and they will be pleasantly surprised, because bad press is good press.
What's kind of bullshit is Bethesda announced Elder Scrolls Blades during E3 in a similar way and nobody gave them shit. So it's funny to see the same strategy fail 5 months later
@InkHero Bethesda also released a teaser for elder scrolls 6 shortly after that, didn’t they? If blizzard would have just teased D4, I’m sure a lot of people would have been less upset.
@InkHeroI gotta agree with the other comments, I can't remember where I heard/read it, but I saw something that made a lot of sense in this situation, as long as the company release news about their next big title. Such as Bethesda announcing Fallout 4, while also announcing Fallout Shelter or when they released the teaser for Elder Scrolls 6 while also announcing Blades, in addition they released a teaser for Starfield (is that what it is called?) I agree with many of the other comments saying that if Blizzard had announced their next big game they would have received far less flack.
@bhall415 I never said that the game would not do good. Never said I wouldn’t download it. I don’t think that region has anything to do with it either. In my opinion they could have presented/revealed it a lot better. Not just for the people that actually attended Blizzcon, but all Diablo fans.
I'm extraordinarily hesitant about Immortal, but if it's pay one price for the full game I'll definitely give it a shot (as long as it's $10-$20, I'll never pay more than that for a mobile game). I'm mostly salty about being told to that as a Diablo fan I should be excited for Blizzcon, and then being ahown a mobile game. I don't play any mobile games so it's going to have to be super impressive.
